About The Event

Mark your calendars!  We hope you will be available on Saturday, June 17th, 2023, for the 16th annual World Refugee Day Celebration at the North-East Branch of the Kansas City Public Library, 6000 Wilson Avenue.  While World Refugee Day is globally recognized on June 20 every year, we are getting a jump start on the celebration to showcase the impact that refugees bring to the Kansas City community and beyond.

Last year’s festivities included over 500 people and refugees representing over 14 different countries.  It was a day of celebration with music, food, and dancing. World Refugee Day in Kansas City, MO is a true collaboration of many organizations and community members in Kansas City.

The event has been held for 16 years to celebrate refugees and the diversity across the metro area.  It is a chance to shine a light on the various communities that are made up of people who had to flee their former homes and are now contributing members of our metro area.
