About The Event
Kick off Jazz Appreciation Month and learn about the history of International Jazz Day on site at the National Historic Landmark, Mutual Musicians Foundation in the 18th & Vine Jazz District.
Our panel will focus on jazz as "living heritage"—traditions, knowledge, skills, and expressions passed down through generations by the artists who keep the traditions alive. By recognizing and honoring intangible heritage, the goal is to foster cultural diversity, mutual respect, and sustainable development. The United Nations agency, UNESCO, declared April 30 as International Jazz Day in 2011 to celebrate the diplomatic role of jazz and the way the artform promotes international cooperation. Learn how you can advocate for the United Nations and UNESCO, the UN agency that works to build peace through global coorperation in the fields of education, science, and culture.
This event is free to the public with donations accepted at the event.
